Dual Language Immersion
DLI PROGRAM INFORMATION (ENGLISH)
The Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program is available at two district schools, Capri and Paul Ecke Central. The Dual Language Immersion Program is a challenging and rigorous academic program in which Spanish is used as the primary language of instruction. The classroom population is half English-speaking children and half Spanish-speaking children. The program implements a 90/10-immersion model in which kindergarten students receive 90% of their instruction in Spanish and 10% in English. The percentage of English instruction increases until core subjects are taught in Spanish for 50% of the day and English for 50% of the day in 4th – 6th grades. There are three goals in our DLI program:
- Bilingualism
- Biliteracy
- Multicultural Appreciation
Kindergarten Entrance to DLI Program
Students eligible to participate in the DLI Program lottery must be age-appropriate for kindergarten entrance for the school year in which they are submitting an application. Specifically, students turning five (5) on or before September 1 (CA Ed Code 48000) and currently residing within the boundaries of EUSD.
DUAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAM ENROLLMENT INFORMATION FOR GRADES 1 - 6
If there is space available, students in grades 1 through 6 are able to enroll in the DLI program if they meet one of the following criteria:
- Moving to the Encinitas Union School District from a Spanish-speaking country.
- Transferring to the Encinitas Union School District from a DLI (English/Spanish) school.
*Students will be administered a Spanish screening assessment in order to determine the best support.
Doble Inmerisón (ESPANOL)
El Programa de Inmersión de Dos Idiomas (por sus siglas en inglés DLI), está disponible en dos escuelas del distrito, Capri y Paul Ecke Central. El Programa de Inmersión de Dos Idiomas, es un programa académico o riguroso y desafiante en el cual el español es usado como lenguaje primario de instrucción. La población estudiantil de los salones de clases es la mitad niños que hablan inglés y la mitad niños que hablan español. El programa se implementa usando un modelo de inmersión 90/10, en el cual los estudiantes de kínder reciben la instrucción el 90% del tiempo en español y el 10% en inglés. El porcentaje de la instrucción en inglés aumenta hasta que las materias principales son impartidas en español por el 50% del horario de clases y en inglés el otro 50% en los grados del 4to. al 6to. Una de las metas principales del programa DLI es desarrollar el dominio del lenguaje en inglés y en español.
Programa DLI de Ingreso a Kínder
Los estudiantes que califican para participar en la lotería del programa DLI, deben de contar con la edad apropiada para ingresar a kínder para el año escolar, en donde ellos están presentando una solicitud. Específicamente, los estudiantes que tienen cinco (5) años cumplidos antes del 1 septiembre (Código CA Ed Code 48000) y que actualmente residen dentro de los límites que corresponden al distrito EUSD.
INFORMACIÓN ACERCA DE LA INSCRIPCIÓN AL PROGRAMA DE INMERSIÓN DE DOS IDIOMAS O DLI PARA GRADOS DEL 1ro. A 6to.
Si existe espacio disponible, los estudiantes en grados de 1ro. a 6to. pueden inscribirse en el programa DLI, siempre y cuando llenen los requisitos presentados a continuación:
- Mudarse a el área de residencias del Distrito Encinitas Union School District de un país donde se habla español.
- Que se transfieran al Distrito Encinitas Union School District, de una escuela que ofrece el programa DLI (inglés/español)
* A los estudiantes se les administrará un examen de revisión para poder determinar el mejor apoyo.

The DLI program is offered at Capri and Paul Ecke Central Schools
for Incoming Kindergarten Students.
Giving students the opportunity to become bilingual and bi-literate by learning Spanish and English to prepare them for success in a global society.
Space is limited. Interested incoming kindergarten families should register for kindergarten at their school of residence. Additionally, they must attend one of the DLI Orientation meetings below where they will complete the application for DLI and learn about the lottery process.
In order to participate in the DLI program it is mandatory that you
attend one of the following meetings:

PROGRAMA DE DOBLE INMERSIóN INFORMACIÓN
DE INSCRIPCIÓN
Ofrecido en las escuelas Capri y Paul Ecke Central
para alumnos que entrarán al kinder
Ofreciéndoles la oportunidad de ser bilingüe y biliteracidos en español e inglés para
prepararlos para éxito en la sociedad mundial.
El espacio es limitado. Las familias interesadas de estudiantes que asistirán a kínder deben de inscribirse para el grado de kínder en la escuela que les corresponde de acuerdo con su domicilio. Además, deben de asistir a una de las reuniones de orientación de DLI que mencionamos a continuación, donde llenarán la solicitud para el programa DLI y aprenderán sobre el proceso de lotería.
Para participar en este programa es obligatiorio
