EUSD is proud to offer a robust curriculum that meets all state standards while providing teachers with adopted and supplemental resources to create student-driven, Project-Based Learning opportunities across content areas. We work to incorporate the EUSD Framework for the Future and Strategic Plan into all we do, including the Learner Profile Competencies of Empowered Learner, Global Citizen, Innovative Thinker, Wellness Advocate, Skilled Communicator and Confident Collaborator.

​Recommended Literature List This web site will provide recommended literature for pre-kindergarten – grade twelve students that align with CCSS. It will also help students prepare for college, a career and the challenges of a changing world.​​

In EUSD all students participate in common assessments three times a year. We use the iReady Math Assessment and the Literably Reading assessment to measure student progress throughout each year.  In addition, students in 3rd-6th grade take the CAASPP, as part of the required state testing.  More importantly, EUSD teachers use formative assessments within their classrooms to determine student needs and to drive personalized instruction.

Smarter Balance Tests This website provides information about the test, called Smarter Balance, that will be administered to students. Information about fielding testing the Smarter Balance Tests and practice test sample questions for grades 3 – 8 and 11 in the subject areas of English language arts and mathematics are available.

◦ Mathematics Resources for Parents and Guardians 
Information and resources for parents and guardians that explain mathematics instruction used today and provide suggestions for supporting their child's academic success.

Based on the June 27, 2025 Supreme Court opinion on Mahmoud v. Taylor, parents will be provided notifications and given an opportunity to opt out of material specifically identified by parents as substantially interfering with the religious development, belief, and/ or practice of their child/children. For example, Mahmoud specifically dealt with LGBTQ+ content. Your child’s teacher will provide advance notice of any materials with potential religious-based impact that will be used in class. Parents will have the opportunity to opt their child out of the specific content they identify as substantially interfering with their specific religious belief, custom and/or practice. Any child opted out will be provided an alternative assignment in a different location during the lesson without negative ramifications.

Classroom Libraries
Each classroom has its own library where students are encouraged to self-select books that interest them to read at their own discretion. Families are welcome to review the classroom libraries. While these books are not part of the formal curriculum, we encourage you to talk with your child about their reading choices and discuss what types of books you would or would not like them to select.

School Libraries
All EUSD families are welcome to view all books available in the school library. On each iPad or on our website, there is an app called Follett Destiny. That is our library card catalog. When you click on the Destiny app you are able to select your school. From the new screen, you can select “Catalog” at the top (next to Home). That will open up a search feature where you can search for any book title. If there are books that you do not want your child to check out, you may send an email to your school Library Media Assistant with the titles.

EUSD Equity Plan

The EUSD Equity Committee was established in Fall 2020, with representatives from all school sites. The Equity Committee met monthly throughout 2020-21 and 2021-22. The committee met four times during the 2022-2023 school year, five times in 2023-24, four times in 2024-25, and four times in 2025-26.

The Math Committee was active in the 2018-19 and beginning of the 2019-20 school year, as EUSD began a pilot of the iReady Math curriculum.  Due to COVID-19, EUSD has extended the math pilot to ensure teachers had access to familiar content resources during the transitions. 

The Math Scope and Sequence Development team was established during 2022-2023 to create grade level scope and sequence guidance documents for all EUSD teachers. The Scope and Sequence resources were shared with all teachers in August 2023. 

A Math adoption committee was formed in Spring 2026 to review the list of CA-approved materials. The Math adoption committee selected two programs to pilot during the 2026-27 school year. This information was shared with the Board during the May 2026 meeting.
