Supplemental Educational Services (SES)

The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 was created to ensure that every child receives the academic attention he or she deserves and that no child is left behind his or her peers. The purpose of the Supplemental Educational Services (SES) program is to provide free tutoring to eligible, low-income students enrolled in public schools that are in Program Improvement (PI) beyond Year 1. The goal of SES is to increase eligible student’s academic achievement in reading/language arts, mathematics, and science as well as English proficiency for students with limited English proficiency. Tutoring services will be provided beyond the school day and must be researched-based. Services also must be consistent with core academic content and instruction used by the Encinitas Union School District. In the 2015 – 2016 school year, the Encinitas Union School District offers state-approved SES provider services to eligible students at Capri Elementary School and Paul Ecke Central School.
