The Encinitas Union School District serves the City of Encinitas and the La Costa area of Carlsbad in North San Diego County. The District began with a one room school, built in 1883. Presently, the District consists of nine elementary schools. All of the District’s schools have been recognized as California Distinguished Schools, and La Costa Heights, Mission Estancia, Olivenhain Pioneer, and Park Dale Lane have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools. The Encinitas Union School District has a district API of 877. All schools demonstrate continuous improvement. Our facilities are second to none. All schools have been modernized with state-of-the-art classroom design and technology.

Capri School

The Capri Elementary School community is located in the northwestern section of the City of Encinitas, serving over 540 kindergarten through sixth grade students. The school has experienced significant changes in student demographics to include a wider diversity of children. The school has developed educational programs designed to provide the skills and tools necessary for students to explore their creativity while developing a strong educational base. The dedication of Capri Elementary School’s staff, parents, and community to their students has resulted in the school’s California Distinguished School and Golden Bell Award status.

Dual Language Immersion Program

Capri Elementary School is also proud to house the Dual Language Immersion Program. This program combines native speakers of Spanish with native speakers of English to develop a second language (bilingualism & biliteracy) for both groups of students. Students begin in this program in kindergarten with the expectation that they will be completely bilingual and biliterate by the end of sixth grade. Because of the popularity of the program, there is an enrollment waiting list. Approximately 30 percent of the program enrollment consists of students from other schools.

El Camino Creek School

La Costa Heights School

Mission Estancia School

Park Dale Lane School

Paul Ecke Central School

The Paul Ecke Central Elementary School is located in the western section of the city of Encinitas. The school used to be divided on two campuses, kindergarten through fourth grade at Paul Ecke Central, and fifth and sixth grade at Pacific View. During the 2004-05 school year, all grades were combined on one campus at Paul Ecke Central Elementary School, and 540 kindergarten through sixth grade students are enrolled. Paul Ecke Central Elementary School teachers and staff are dedicated to ensuring the academic success of every student and providing a safe and productive learning experience. The
school has developed educational programs designed to provide the skills and tools necessary for students to explore their creativity while developing a strong educational base. The dedication of Paul Ecke Central Elementary School’s staff, parents, and community to their students has resulted in the school’s CSBA Golden Bell Award, the Title I Achieving School Award, recognition for Physical Education, the Gallup/Robinson Award, and California Distinguished School status.
