Fundraising ProgramsBook Fair Chairs: Stacy Melton and Pam Regnery ¨ Parent volunteers are needed to set up book fair, offer classes a sneak peak and serve as cashiers and helpers during the week-long book fair. Book Fair proceeds benefit the Media Center. December Jog-A-Thon Chairs: Linda Janelli and Kathy Urbina. ¨ This fundraiser promotes physical fitness fun and funds the Playground Partners Program. At the event, students run laps, for which they have collected pledges. Parent volunteers are needed to prepare for the race, hand out water, encourage students and handle classroom paperwork. March Strawberry Sales Chair: Open¨ Volunteers are needed to set up for the sale and help sell strawberries after school Wednesdays in the spring. April and May Box Tops Chair: Katherine Flesh ¨ Volunteers are needed to collect box top labels l and to count and bundle the box tops. Year round
PTA Programs Apparel Chair: Christy Whalen. ¨ School apparel is sold during the first part of the school year and again in the spring, and volunteers help with campus sales. Year-round Arts Attack Chairs: Tracy Weingarten and Fran Morilak ¨ Volunteers instruct prepared art lessons in the classroom. The program requires about three to four hours for preparation and class instruction every other week throughout the year. Orientation is offered in September. Co-chairs are also needed to assist with volunteer communication, maintaining supplies and kiln operation. Year-round Beautification Team Chair: Open ¨ This team ensures beautification of grounds, classrooms and facilities. Anyone willing to help make the campus beautiful is welcome. A large team is needed. Year-round Carnival Chair: Stephanie Bowman. ¨ The PTA hosts an old-fashioned day of fun at the annual carnival. Volunteers run booths, supervise the attractions, work cash registers, set up activities and tear down the show. September Everyone A Reader Chair: Tess Emminger ¨ Meet with individual students one day a week (about 60 to 90 minutes) so they may practice and improve reading skills. Many volunteers and substitutes are needed. Training (two to three hours) will be provided by San Diego Office of Education. Year-round Explorer Store Chair: Diana Butler ¨ Volunteers are needed to run the store during Thursday morning recess. Students purchase kid-friendly items with Explorer passes, which are earned for good behavior and academic accomplishments. Year-round Health & Wellness Chair: Open ¨ Help promote health and wellness at ECC. Chair will serve as liaison with school district on its wellness policy and help coordinate the annual EUSD Wellness Forum. Holiday Coat Drive Chair: Shelley Fessinger ¨ Coats are collected at school to help local families in need. November Hospitality Chairs: Julie Garcia and Stephanie Bowman ¨ Help is needed to provide refreshments for P PTA meetings and school functions. Year-round Lost and Found Chair: Karen Madeira ¨ Volunteers are needed to sort and coordinate the return of lost-a and-found items. Also, workers help 6th graders identify and deliver missing items to students. Unclaimed items are donated to a charity. Year-round Math 24 Chairs: Melissa Durant and Kelly Ma. ¨ Volunteers assist students in grades 3-6 with the Math 24 game during Wednesday lunch period. Assistance is also sought for the district-wide Math 24 tournament in the spring. January to May Media Center Assist Media Center Aide with shelving, checkout and other duties one to two hours each week. Year round Picture Day Volunteers are needed to help with Picture Day by escorting the children to and from their classrooms, and helping fix collars and smooth hair. September Red Ribbon Week Chairs: Jill Steigerwald and Fran Morilak. ¨ This school-wide program encourages s students to make drug-free and healthy choices. Parent volunteers from each classroom h help with program implementation in the class. October Reflections Chairs: Jeannie Moses and Dawn Mondero ¨ This national PTA arts program occurs in the fall, culminating with an art exhibit. Students submit individual works in their choice of medium based on a specific theme. Several volunteers are needed to introduce the program to the students, collect submitted art, arrange judging and coordinate student recognition. November School Directory Chair: Tiffany Fisher ¨ A directory listing student names, addresses, phone numbers, classroom information and general school information is distributed to PTA members in the fall. Volunteers are needed to proofread and confirm information. September Science Nights Chairs: Suzanne Mosko and Jean Strayer Drennen ¨ Students in each grade and their parents are invited to an evening to explore science concepts. Parent volunteers from each class are needed once during the year to assist in the administration of one event. Year round Staff Appreciation Chairs: Julie Garcia and Stephanie Bowman ¨ This school-wide effort expresses appreciation to ECC teachers and staff. Monthly luncheons are hosted by each grade level, and treats are offered during Staff Appreciation Week. Volunteers are also needed to mark staff birthdays. May Study Buddies Chairs: Tami Alderton and Lynn Brown ¨ This after-school program pairs ECC students with high-schoolers to encourage good study habits. Volunteers provide snacks and supervision. Year-round Variety Show Chairs: Janelle Anisso and Stephanie Strichler ¨ This entertainment extravaganza features students showcasing their talents. Volunteers are needed to prepare for the event and coordinate the February shows. January to March Work Room Volunteer Assist with on-going projects requested by teachers for one or two hours in the morning on your specified day, every other week. This position includes copying, laminating, paper cutting, etc. Year-round Yearbook Pictures Volunteers are asked to take pictures during school events and programs. Year-round Yearbook Sales/Layout Chair: Darcy Brandon ¨ Volunteers are needed to pre-sell and assemble the school y yearbook. Adults also work with 6th-grade students on book layout and design. Year round
