National Blue Ribbon School

 

Park Dale Lane was designated as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1987

 

The National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Award, presented by the United States Department of Education, is based upon the following criteria.

- Strong leadership
- A clear vision and sense of mission that is shared by all connected with the school
- High quality teaching
- Challenging and up-to-date curriculum, policies and practices that ensure a safe environment conducive to learning
- A solid commitment to parental involvement
- Evidence that the school helps all students achieve high standards

The national award selection process involves an extensive written nomination, selection by a state blue ribbon committee and qualification for a site visit from a national blue ribbon panel of educators.  The blue ribbon title is presented to elementary and secondary schools across the nation on a rotating, bi-annual basis.
 


Park Dale Lane 
was designated as a 
California Distinguished School in
1987, 1998, 2004

Initiated in 1985, the California Distinguished Schools Program acknowledged outstanding elementary and secondary schools. The schools selected as Distinguished Schools were honored as  outstanding examples of successful teaching and learning, having high standards for all students, encouraging strong family and community involvement, creating partnerships with the business community, ensuring a safe and clean school environment, and for supporting the use of modern technology.

In order to receive the California Distinguished Schools award, the school staff completed an extensive application indicating how the school meets specific criteria.  After a thorough review of these applications, the top schools were selected for a site visit by a review team. Approximately 225 schools from all elementary schools in the state of California were awarded this honor every other year.

National Board Certification

Two Park Dale Lane teachers have received their National Board Certification meeting all rigorous standards set forth by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).
