English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
California Education Code requires that a school with twenty-one or more pupils identified as English Learners (EL) shall establish a school-level advisory committee called an English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC). An ELAC's responsibilities include:
Advise the school's principal and the staff on:
• The school’s program for English Learners.
Advise the School Site Council (SSC) on:
• The development of the Single School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
Assist the school's principal and staff on:
• The school’s needs assessment.
• The school’s annual language census (R-30 LC Report).
• Efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
