STREAM Teachers 2018-2019
1st day of school Monday, August 17th
Welcome to Olivenhain Pioneer Elementary School, a place where creativity and innovation is encouraged, critical thinking and problem solving skills are developed, and engaging learning opportunities are ubiquitous. Our S.T.R.E.A.M. emphasis is designed to develop an interdisciplinary approach to learning by integrating Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Art and Mathematics throughout our standards based curriculum.
I am honored to be serving as the principal of such a remarkable school of amazing students, committed staff, supportive parents, and involved community members. At OP Elementary School, we work together to bring the very best learning experiences to every child. I am proud of our wonderful children, staff, and families, and look forward to working with you to make each day filled with successful learning for our students. As a staff, we remain focused on meeting the academic and social-emotional needs of every child. The mission of OPE is to develop the whole child by providing a nurturing environment and an academically challenging curriculum that promotes:
· Life-long learning
· Creative and critical thinking
· Personal academic achievement
· Appreciation for individual differences
· Global thinking
· Responsible citizenship
Our wonderful staff is dedicated to working collaboratively and their commitment to student success is what sets them apart from others. We will be dedicating our efforts this year to establish Grade Level Planning Time ‘The Wheel’ to further develop our differentiation model which will focus on meeting the needs of all of our learners.
We also will place great emphasis on positive school climate and provide weekly spirit assemblies focusing on respect, responsibility, caring, trustworthiness, fairness, and citizenship through our health and wellness program.
When you visit our campus, I am sure you will agree that a sense of caring and high expectations is evident. There is a friendly atmosphere and strong sense of community on campus. Our families and community are an integral part of our school’s success. Parents can be found in countless classrooms, engaged in meaningful work. We encourage you to get involved with any of the invaluable committees already in action such as our School Site Council (SSC), Parent Teacher Association (PTA), or the Encinitas Educational Foundation (EEF). On our website, you will find current information about our school, schedules, staff, classrooms, and exciting events. I look forward to getting to know all of you this year!
