The program was established in an effort to give reading and math assistance to students in kindergarten through sixth grade who are performing below grade level standards. It also offers homework assistance before school through its Dolphin Club program."We're really proud of the program and the teachers and parent community are behind it as well," says Mr. O'Connor.

Student Names New School!

dougchd (27066 bytes)Flora Vista student Margaret Nelson, is recognized by Dr. DeVore, in photo at right, for her winning submission to a district-wide contest to name our new school. Margaret submitted "El Camino Creek Elementary School," and it became official when the name was selected by the Board of Trustees at the November 17 board meeting.

Students at all sites were given the opportunity to submit their suggestions for the school name and a rationale for why that name was appropriate for our new school. A sub-committee of our Strategic Planning Facilities Committee reviewed all of the entries. The members of this committee were given the suggested name and the rationale, but not the student's name or school. The committee had the difficult task of reviewing all the excellent suggestions and narrowing the field down to four names. After the final vote, Margaret's identity was revealed.

El Camino Creek Elementary will be located in La Costa Valley and is scheduled to open in August 2000.
