Assemblyman Kaloogian visits EUSD

One recent Friday afternoon, I was transported back in time to my own childhood by the Girl Scouts at Capri School. As I participated in their tree planting ceremony, I had flashbacks to the pride and excitement I felt when I got to wear my Girl Scout uniform for the first time! My family was poor and my hardworking parents had little time or resources for the extras in life, but they did make scouting possible for my sister and me.

The lessons of scouting were lifelong—self reliance, a spirit of adventure, honesty, cheerfulness (even when times are tough), self-confidence, perseverance, teamwork and leadership.

Whether your child is interested in scouting, baseball, soccer, football, chorus or any of the many other wonderful activities that are offered in our community, make it a point to enroll in at least one this year. Success in school and success in life are enhanced by participation in these experiences.

We applaud the adult leaders who so generously give their time and skill to enrich the lives of our children!

Sincerely,

Patricia Clark White, Ed.D
District Superintendent
