Dear Parents:
What a glorious beginning weve had to our school year! Your
deep yearning for smaller class size and your wish for modern, up-to-date facilities and
technology are being addressed both at the same time!
Thanks to our
wonderful, dedicated Prop O volunteers, led by Christy Guerin, our schools have already
begun to see improvements. Work on new playgrounds, safer fields, new roofs and better
lighting started this summer. Our architects and engineers have been working overtime to
develop drawings, plans and applications for the states approval, so that we can
proceed with some of the bigger projects our schools want and neednew classrooms,
media walls, multipurpose rooms, etc. Thank you again for your magnificent support!
As many of you know, we have for years been advocating improved state funding for
schools. Nineteen ninety six must be our year because this year they actually listened! We
must give credit to those in Sacramento who understand that only added funding would ever
let us reduce our class sizes! This year, the legislature helped us achieve a
student-teacher ratio of 20 to 1 in grades 1, 2 and 3!
We have selected outstanding new teachers to join our superb veteran staff. As I
visited primary classes this fall, I found the teachers thrilled to be able to give such
personal attention to your children. Students are learning basic skills for excellent
performance in reading and math and are being challenged to go farther and deeper.
Technology purchases will soon start appearing at the schools also. Infrastructure
cabling, file servers, Internet access, multi-media computers, and other new technology
will start coming in this year. Your principal will keep you informed.
We have an extremely hard working and dedicated staff. Be sure to cheer them on this
year. Your support like that of the home town crowd at the Atlanta Gameswill help
our staff and your children reach new heights of star performance!
Our Board of Trustees and I wish you and your children a joyful and productive year.
