Robyn Litt, Teacher of the Year for El Camino Creek School and the Encinitas Union School District, was honored October 6, 2007, by Cox Communications and the San Diego County Office of Education.

Robyn is an extraordinary teacher who is devoted to releasing the aspiration of others. She possesses a true love of children and an innate zest for life and learning. Robyn clearly understands the characteristics, needs, and desires of the elementary child and strives to provide a learning environment rich with academic rigor as well as multiple opportunities for growth, both personally and socially. She understands the need to combine quality standards-based lessons with student interest and ability level.

Robyn is well known and respected district-wide for her devotion to excellence and her willingness to share her expertise, energy, and passion with all members of the Encinitas learning community and beyond. She is the ultimate professional in all aspects of her life!
As a result of innovative teacher-created lessons focused on supporting state standards in all curricular areas, Robyn's students and those of her teammates have shown continuous academic growth during her tenure as a 6th grade teacher at El Camino Creek. She has been an avid proponent of blending Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) standards with those of English Language Arts and Math in an effort to raise student scores on both state and district-wide assessments. Robyn uses a variety of assessment tools, teaching strategies, student and teacher feedback, as well as district and state support systems to drive her instruction.

Robyn epitomizes the model of a "lifelong learner". She passionately seeks out opportunities for professional growth. Robyn holds a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and is currently a candidate in the National Board Certified Teacher Program.

A true Teacher of the Year is one whose contributions toward student achievement extend beyond the classroom. Robyn has worked tirelessly on behalf of students both locally and statewide. She has proven herself to be a "Highly Qualified Teacher" as demonstrated by the following:

  • She has served as Director of the Southern California Arts Project
  • She created/conducted professional development seminars which provided model lessons for teachers in the areas of art and music
  • She is a Lead Member for the ON YOUR HONOR project through Cal State San Marcos Currently teaches Social Studies for Elementary Teachers at Cal State San Marcos Lead Member for the EUSD Visual and Performing Arts Committee
  • She is a Lead Member for the EUSD Task Force for GATE and Differentiated Instruction in conjunction with the College of William and Mary
  • She has authored grants to secure funding to support educational programs at both site and district levels
  • She has created ELA and VAPA web-based lessons currently being utilized by teachers throughout district and state levels
  • She is a member of the City of Carlsbad recycling program, Project H2O
  • She currently serves as a member of El Camino Creek's School Site Council

Robyn is a loving, gifted, and talented teacher. She is beloved by all members of the ECC learning community, and is one of the most highly requested teachers at El Camino Creek School. Robyn is truly respected and admired by her colleagues. They say that a successful teacher understands and demonstrates the mantra "Win their hearts, and their minds will follow". It is the rare teacher who models this philosophy as well as Ms. Robyn Litt. What she does for children is nothing less than magical!
