Silvia Madrid has been selected as the Classified Employee of the Year at two school sites – Capri and Paul Ecke Central. Silvia began her career in Encinitas 26 years ago. She has served as a bilingual instructional aide for 17 years, and as a speech instructional aide the past 9 years. She received a state certification from the Speech-Language Pathology Auditory Board.

Silvia is a special member of both school site staffs. Her friendly positive manner is appreciated by students, staff and parents. She is highly involved with the CBET program, and is always interacting with the community and is an active advocate for students. She is an active member of CABE (California Association of Bilingual Education) and attends conferences and other professional trainings to continually enhance her skills.

Despite her many years of experience, Silvia she continues to demonstrate unending energy and an eagerness to learn. She is open-minded and receptive to new teaching ideas and therapy methods and is extremely creative in developing her own methods and strategies to better serve children. She has a positive demeanor with children while maintaining high expectations. She exhibits a delightful sense of humor with her students and colleagues. She has touched many students' lives in our district and has truly made a difference in their education and self esteem.

Silvia’s hobbies include arts and crafts, and she loves to work out at the gym. She has two children, and two grandchildren who currently attend Ocean Knoll.

Silvia truly exemplifies the qualities of an exceptional human being, a dedicated employee, and our District’s Classified Employee of the Year.

Each of the Classified Employees of the Year personifies the high quality of employee in the Encinitas Union School District.  Moreover, their selection reflects the high regard their peers have for them and their contributions to the site and District. Congratulations to all.
