Lori Alquire, Ocean Knoll's Classified Employee of the Year, is also this year's district Classified Employee of the Year. Lori has become an icon at Ocean Knoll. Her positive energy and love for the children of Ocean Knoll is evident in all that she does. She has earned the respect of the students, staff and parents.

Lori is able to quickly establish a rapport with all of the students by treating them with respect and genuinely caring for each and every one of them. She works well with youngsters that need additional support with literacy and math skills as well as with social interactions. As an instructional assistant, Lori offers students multiple opportunities for them to master grade level standards and shares with them ways to be successful outside the classroom. Lori performs all of her instructional assistant duties with a positive attitude and a smile.

When Lori is not assisting children in the classroom, she is volunteering in the office. She is the person who counts and/or copies all notices sent home. You can always count on Lori to help answer the phones, assist the students that come to the office not feeling well, and help drive students to Islands to have lunch with the principal. Lori is instrumental in putting together and updating the noon supervisors' schedule. Every Wednesday after school you will also find Lori running the Ocean Knoll student store for students to redeem their Dolphin Dollars for prizes.

Another hat worn by Lori at Ocean Knoll is that of noon supervisor. She is the one called when help is needed. Children's faces light up when they see Lori helping out on the playground. You will find Lori organizing students in cooperative group play. She makes students feel safe and loved.

Lori is a staff member and volunteer that has made Ocean Knoll part of her life's purpose. One of her colleagues summarizes well what Lori is all about, "She is always ready to help. She loves Ocean Knoll students like they are her own. She is dedicated and committed to the success of all Ocean Knoll students."

Congratulations to all!
