Dr. Ray O'Toole named
Certificated Administrator of the Year
 

The Management Team of the Encinitas Union District has selected Dr. Ray O'Toole as the 2001-02 Certificated Administrator of the Year. Dr. O'Toole is currently the principal of Mission Estancia School and plans to retire at the end of the 2001-02 school year. 

Dr. O'Toole has been an education for over 40 years. He began his career as a junior high school science teacher. He completed his doctoral studies in Education and Science Education. He continued his post-doctoral study in Education Administration. He was Assistant Professor of Education in Pennsylvania and Arizona.  

Dr. O'Toole has been an elementary school principal for twenty-eight years. Twenty-two of these years have been in the Encinitas Union School District. He has made a tremendous contribution to the Encinitas Union School District during his career and a positive difference for children, staff and parents. As principal of Mission Estancia School, he provided leadership in helping the school attain the prestigious California Distinguished School recognition. Under his leadership the award winning MARE  program has become a cornerstone of the Mission Estancia science curriculum. 

He has been an active member in the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and has represented ACSA Region 15 on Legislative and Pupil Services Committees. He has actively participated as a presenter at Conferences of the National Science Teachers’ Association. He has been a PTA member for 30 years and has been recognized with the prestigious Golden Oak Service Award.
