Gerry Devitt named
Classified Administrator of the Year 

Congratulations to Gerry Devitt, Supervisor of Maintenance, Operations and Grounds for his selection as Classified Administrator of the Year.  

Gerry is known throughout the District for his positive and personable "can do" attitude. A friendly and familiar face on all school campuses, Gerry works effectively with staff and parents alike, always being sure the best interest of students is served. Although Gerry is primarily a "behind-the-scenes" profile, his leadership is very visible. He works closely with principals and parents on school projects, facility and grounds needs. He provides leadership and support to all custodians across the District. He also provides leadership to the District's Maintenance and Grounds teams. 

Employed with the District since 1987, Gerry served as a Grounds/Maintenance Assistant, Groundskeeper, and Grounds Leadperson prior to becoming Supervisor of Maintenance, Operations and Grounds in 1994. Since then, Gerry has become an integral part of the District's Management Team. Gerry's work ethic is admirable. Although devoted to family and sailing, he makes himself available to support the District twenty-four hours a day, 7 days a week. Gerry truly models a "whatever it takes" willingness to help. Gerry's commitment and dedication are only surpassed by his loyalty to the District and his expert knowledge in all areas of his responsibility. 

The Encinitas Union School District is a much better place because of Gerry Devitt. Congratulations Gerry!
