Debbie has served in the Encinitas Union School District since 1994, when she was hired as the Principal of La Costa Heights School. In 2000, she opened El Camino Creek School as the Principal. She became the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services in 2005. Prior to becoming a school administrator, Debbie taught for ten years with children ranging from kindergarten to high school in three states - Utah, Wyoming, and California. Debbie was also an Assistant Principal for 3 1/2 years.

Debbie considers herself a life long learner and constantly stretches to improve. She earned her doctorate from the University of La Verne in 1999. In addition to her Ed.D., Debbie holds a Masters Degree in Education, a Bachelors Degree in Music, an Administrative Services Credential, a Multiple Subjects Credential, and a Single Subject Credential in Music.

Debbie's leadership at La Costa Heights School helped the school gain recognition as both a California Distinguished School and a National Blue Ribbon School. Her ability to lead teams and strong understanding of standards based instruction resulted in El Camino Creek School being recognized as a high tech and high achieving lighthouse school.
