Principal Christie Kay
Dear Parents and Community Members,
Hello and welcome to La Costa Heights Elementary School. I am very excited to be leading this tremendous school with such a dynamic staff, stellar students, and supportive parents and community members.
La Costa Heights Elementary School is part of the Encinitas Union Elementary School District, a K-6 district located in San Diego county. One of nine schools in the district, we offer a full academic program to approximately 700 students. Our district motto is: Together helping children reach for the stars. Students are challenged and rewarded every day in this rich learning environment. In addition to the core subject areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, students at La Costa Heights Elementary School have the opportunity to participate in art, music, PE, yoga, and more.
Families and community members are so important to our success at La Costa Heights. Parents are welcome additions, and you will often see parents in classrooms engaged in meaningful work to enhance the education students are receiving. All parents are encouraged to get involved with various committees at work including our School Site Council (SSC), Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and Encinitas Education Foundation (EEF). We also have an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) to support our school and our second language population.
Every student at LCH is issued an iPad to support individualized learning and 21st century learning through a wealth of digital curriculum. Every day students are engaged in highly rigorous learning through technology, collaboration, inquiry, and project-based learning.
I am so honored to be a part of this school and district. Thank you to all our staff, parents, and community members who make each day meaningful for the students we serve. Together, we are preparing our students to be leaders in the 21st century.
