Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

Services

GATE students' needs will be met through addressing rigorous academic content standards and by using differentiated instruction models (i.e., flexible grouping, learning centers, learning contracts) in kindergarten - sixth grade classrooms during the regular school day.  Instructional grouping will be provided to address the various strengths and learning styles of students.  The focus on professional development for the staff includes training in Differentiated Instruction, Brain Research and Service Learning.  Board adopted curriculum materials also include resources to address the needs of GATE students.  Services are coordinated with the San Dieguito Union High School District (SDUHSD) to ensure a smooth transition to middle school.  In addition, services are coordinated with Cardiff by the Sea, Rancho Santa Fe, Solana Beach and Del Mar elementary school districts (elementary school feeder districts to SDUHSD).
