Kindergarten Registration Information

Kindergarten Tea - Wednesday, April 14, 2010 (8:30 - 9:30)

This is an informational meeting for parents.  The Principal and Assistant Principal will explain the registration process, the school programs, and answer questions.  Coffee, tea and a light breakfast will be available during the meeting.  Please bring an pen or pencil to take notes during the meeting.  Registration packets will be available for you to pick up on this day.  We will start to collect registration packets on Thursday, April 22 on the official Kindergarten Registration day.

 

Kindergarten Registration - Thursday, April 22 (8:30 - 12:30)

Staff members will be available to review all of your registration paperwork and make photocopies of the necessary documents.  We must see the original document when you register your child. 

 

Kindergarten Tours - TBD (see the classrooms now)

You may sign-up for a tour when you turn in your completed registration packet.  The tours are approximately 15 to 20 minutes long and are intended for parents.  The principal and assistant principal provide the tours and members of Student Council will be available as well to answer questions from the student prospective. 

 

Kindergarten Social - TBD

This is an opportunity for students to come to Flora Vista and see the school, walk through the classrooms, and meet children who they will go to school with next year.  This is a fun event and I hope to see you all there!

  

 

The following information is necessary at the time of kindergarten registration:

  • Proof of residency within the school attendance area.
  • Birth Certificate - Original and one (1) copy (we keep the copy). A child must be five (5) years of age on or before December 2, 2010 in order to enter kindergarten.
  • Two (2) emergency names and phone numbers - other than custodial parents or anyone who lives at the same address with the same telephone number.
  • State Immunization Card - Children are required to have the following immunizations for entry into kindergarten:

Polio

4 Doses at any age, but three (3) doses meet requirement for ages 4-6 if at least one was given on or after the 4th birthday.

DPT

5 Doses at any age but four (4) doses meet requirement for ages 4-6 if at least one was on or after the 4th birthday.

MMR

2 Doses required for kindergarten entry within 4 days of age 1 or after.

Hepatitis B

3 Doses required.

Varicella

1 Dose required or documented proof of chicken pox.

If your child's immunizations are incomplete but current, the child can be registered. The child's immunizations must continue on the recommended timeline until completed. If your child's immunization record is missing required doses, please contact your doctor or clinic now. All inoculations are available at your physician's office, or they may be obtained for a small fee at a public health clinic. Contact the Public Health Department at (760) 967-4401 for the location of the nearest clinic.
