Enrichment Classes

Various classes are offered throughout the District after school on any given day.  The following are links to the various programs that can be accessed where available.  Registration typically is processed directly through the program that is being offered.  Should you have any questions, please contact the program director, Ron Quini, at the Encinitas Union School District office at 760-944-4300 x1144 or ron.quini@eusd.net.

Academic Chess - We bring our team of instructors, posters, chess books, and years of experience to your campus each week for this 1hour chess club. After-school chess is a low-cost fee-based enrichment program.  In the after school program kids learn chess strategies, chess openings, solve chess diagrams and puzzles. A one hour chess class would consists of 30 minutes of chess lesson and 30 minutes of playing time. Chess lessons are done on a 2D chess board in front of the class. Chess lessons are accompanied by worksheets and workbooks filled with chess games and chess problems. Artistry In Music (AIM) Band/String Program – Please join us for our 7th year as the EUSD-sanctioned district-wide band program.  Students from all 9 schools in the district participate.  Have fun learning and playing an instrument with your friends!  Perform in concerts and community events!  All levels of musicians are welcome from complete beginners (no experience necessary) to those who already know how to play.  The program is open to all 4th – 6th graders for band and 3rd – 6th graders for strings.  The program begins Sept. 30 and runs through June.  For much more information, please contact Mickey Janelli at janelli@cox.net or phone (760) 639-1616.

Center for Martial ArtsEnjoy learning Martial Arts with friends in an environment of discipline, compassion and loads of FUN!  Your child will learn traditional Korean Martial Arts that will build confidence, self-discipline, physical agility and self-defense ability from a caring, positive, highly trained role model.  Children are also taught that with learning their martial arts comes the responsibility of knowing appropriate times to practice and use their art.  The Center for Martial Arts has been teaching after school enrichment programs throughout San Diego County for over 19 years now.  With a large number of students returning year after year, all levels of martial artists are welcome.  For more information please call The Center at (760) 942-6470 or CMAoffice@sbcglobal.net.

Dance with Nance – Fun mobile dance company that has been offering dance programs and camps to children for 30 years as after school dance productions.  Children enjoy learning the dance genres of jazz, ballet, modern and creative in a fun and relaxed environment with loving teachers. Dancing with classmates help children make new friends and share their talents! Fun dance r outines choreographed to a medley of songs from dance musicals such as Camp Rock, High School Musical, Annie, Aladdin, Grease and more! Flag Football – Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?? Fit Kids America presents Flag Football!! Get ready to learn football basics such as passing, catching, positioning and plays. Warm up and drills will start off the day, and end with a fun filled game. Grades will be split for age appropriate play. Jr. JazzerciseThe nations #1 fitness program for kids! Kids CollegeLocal professional artists will inspire and instruct students as they explore the contributions of the Masters of Art throughout history.  Students will become familiar with pastels, watercolor, charcoal, pencil and acrylics, while learning the principals of art such as color, line, shading, and composition.  Classes are process-oriented and personalized, emphasizing your child’s own personal Creative Expression.  These classes are great for young artists of all ages and abilities.  The Kid’s College is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization celebrating it’s 10th year of providing enrichment programs to students in North County. KidSchoolKidSchool’s Spanish4kids classes are highly interactive and energetic and are conducted entirely in Spanish. Kidz-N-FunOwners- Shannon and Vince Polivka, better known as Mrs. Hot Dog Head and Coach Potato Head. Mad Science of San Diego - conducts after school enrichment programs that spark the imagination and curiosity of elementary school children through exciting, hands-on science activities.  During each class, kids will learn about fascinating feats of science such as rocketry, racecars, robots and more.  As part of each class, students will make a science project to take home!  Mad Science conducts several sessions throughout the school year and the class topics are new and different each term. MonartThe Monart method of drawing teaches how to perceive the visual world in terms of five basic elements of shape. Leading educators recognize Monart as a way students can learn skills such as focus and concentration, hand eye coordination, decision making and problem solving. Each session will be based on themes such as Cartoons, Still Life, or Exotic Animals. Park Dale PlayersThe Park Dale Players has been a fixture in North County children's theater for more than twenty years. We produce original musical comedies for children during intensive two week programs in the summer, fall and spring breaks. Sing 'n Speak Spanish - is a highly interactive fun language program that fully integrates music into a four-year curriculum. USA Jump Stars - USA Jump Stars promotes jump rope as a means of creating a healthy body and mind while developing personal values, team spirit and sportsmanship through competition and live performance. Did you like the movie “Jump In”? Learning competitive jump rope tricks is challenging, fun and great exercise!
