Enrichment Classes

Various classes are offered throughout the District after school on any given day.  The following are links to the various programs that can be accessed where available.  Registration typically is processed directly through the program that is being offered.  Should you have any questions, please contact the program director, Ron Quini, at the Encinitas Union School District office at 760-944-4300 x1144 or ron.quini@eusd.net.

Academic Chess - We are devoted to promoting the merits of chess among children by using stories, dances, and catchy songs to make the game of chess exciting and easy to understand.  Children participating in our program: Develop critical thinking and problem solving skills; Have better concentration and mental discipline; Gain confidence and have lots of FUN!!!  All students in chess club receive an exclusive Academic Chess workbook, prizes for good sportsmanship and participate in the “BIG TOURNAMENT” on the last day where all kids take home a prize! After School Hoops - Do you like basketball? Do you want to get better at the fundamentals of the game? Do you want to have fun learning and competing? Join us then for After School Hoops, an hour-long basketball instructional program offered by One on One Basketball, Inc. Improve your physical fitness and have fun with your friends as we help you improve skills like dribbling, passing, shooting and defending, all while being outside and enjoying yourselves. Artistry In Music (AIM) Band/String Program – Tuesday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday (days and times dependent on ensemble) September 29 thru June 10
Please join us for our 8th year as the EUSD-sanctioned district-wide band program.  Students from all 9 schools in the district participate.  Have fun learning to play an instrument with your friends!  Perform in concerts and community events!  All levels of musicians are welcome from complete beginners (no experience necessary) to those who already know how to play.  The program is open to all 4th – 6th graders for band and 3rd – 6th graders for strings.  For more information, please contact Mickey Janelli at janelli@cox.net or phone (760) 639-1616.

Center for Martial Arts’ Korean Karate & Self-Defense (Grades K-6) - Enjoy learning Martial Arts with friends in an environment of discipline, compassion and loads of FUN! Coast 2 Coast Soccer - Coast 2 Coast makes soccer fun. Our after school program is packed with exciting soccer games and activities. We use qualified coaches who will teach the FUNdamental techniques of dribbling, passing, shooting and heading. In addition, participants will learn that nutrition is a key aspect of healthy living. Kidfit USA– IIMA KidFit USA, Inc. is a non-profit organization providing a variety of school programs emphasizing safety, fitness and character development.  KidFit has been serving North County San Diego since 1996 with after school enrichment, P.E. courses, seminars and camps for students K-12.  Students will gain knowledge of safety and increase levels of self-confidence! Mad Science of San Diego - conducts after school enrichment programs that spark the imagination and curiosity of elementary school children through exciting, hands-on science activities.  During each class, kids will learn about fascinating feats of science such as rocketry, racecars, robots and more.  As part of each class, students will make a science project to take home!  Mad Science conducts several sessions throughout the school year and the class topics are new and different each term. Play-Well Engineering with Lego - Play-Well TEKnologies provides project-based programs designed to teach principles and methods of engineering, architecture, and science to grades K – 8th, utilizing the LEGO™ building system. Prime Time Sports - MIT Baseball Academy shares the latest philosophies in baseball lessons and instruction. Sing 'n Speak Spanish - is a highly interactive fun language program that fully integrates music into a four-year curriculum. Teaching UP - Teaching Up helps young people build confidence as public speakers.  Students create, rehearse, and deliver short speeches in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Together we focus on essential skills including gestures, eye contact, facial expression, strategic use of the stage, vocal variety, volume, use of visual aids, and pacing.  Students are encouraged to develop a speech to polish for the San Diego County Fair Competition this coming June. Tennis for Kidz - T4K is pleased to offer a high quality tennis program conveniently brought right to your child’s school ! T4K incorporates the USTA newly developed Quickstart program.  QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size.  The T4K program develops sportsmanship, social skills and motor skills with an opportunity for enjoyment and challenge of the game of tennis for your child. Wonders - Children Learning Language - Wonders offers quality Spanish, Mandarin and French immersion play classes to children 1-10. Our instructors are native speakers trained in our unique and fun method. Our lessons use developmentally-appropriate, standards-based activities that engage the brain – while playing! Classes include games, art, storytelling, imagination play, puppets, movement, music, and more. Older children in Spanish and French are also introduced to reading and writing, within an immersion environment. Mandarin older classes use some English to introduce “pinyin”, characters, strokes, and stroke order. Research proves learning multiple languages improves overall academic skills.
