
DEFINITION:
Under supervision of a school nurse, assists students who are ill, have accidents and/or require specialized health care attention; applies first aid under direction; maintains adequate health records.
DUTIES:
Maintains school health office, first aid kits and supplies; maintains all necessary records and reports of student accidents, illnesses, medication, and other related records and statistics; sends written notices as required; catalogs health education materials; makes preliminary evaluation of ill students within framework of Health Department requirements, school law, and District policies; administers first aid as directed by the school nurse in conducting vision and hearing test and pediculosis tests; maintains close communication with school nurse on proper procedures and problems, may do tube feeding, suctioning and other specialized health care procedures. Does other related work as assigned.
