GROUNDS LEADPERSON

DEFINITION:

Under general supervision directs, coordinates and participates in grounds maintenance and gardening services of district site and landscape areas. Directs, coordinates and works along with the Grounds/Maintenance Assistants. Does other related work as assigned.

DUTIES:

GROUNDS:

Travels to various sites, determines work to be accomplished, directs and works with Grounds/Maintenance Assistants, cuts, edges, trims, and prunes landscape areas, fertilizes lawn areas, trees, shrubs, hedges, and flowers. Cleans debris from sidewalks and driveways, installs and maintains manual and automatic irrigation systems, moves furniture and equipment for special events, loads and drives truck with equipment, trimmings, sand, dirt, etc., erects and maintains fences, repairs asphalt, mixes and pours cement, installs athletic equipment, mixes and sprays insecticides and herbicides, orders and maintains inventory items, operates various power implements. Inspects grounds and determines need for mowing, fertilizing, planting, and renovations.

MAINTENANCE:

To provide support services in basic trades such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, heating or the like; assists in the construction, installation and maintenance of roofs, furniture, fences, playground equipment, cabinets, shelving, boards, and bulletin boards; may assist in the installation of repair of gas and water lines; may repair and install doors and window glass; installs, adjusts, repairs and maintains electrical equipment; replaces and repairs ceiling and floor tiles; assists in the installation of the door locks.
