Summer Academy Principal

The Summer Academy Principals will work with the Director of Pupil Personnel Services to develop and implement the district summer school program. Each of the Summer Academy Principals will be responsible for one of the Summer School Academies.

The Summer Academy Principals will begin their assignment after the Board approval at the April 16, 1996 Board meeting and will have responsibilities throughout May and June to prepare for Summer Academy. The Summer Academy Principals will participate in the planning and delivery of the Teacher Academy June 25-27.

The Summer School Academy Principals will have the following skills and characteristics:

• knowledge of It's Elementary, the Frameworks, the PQR priority areas, and other resources regarding best practices in elementary education
• ability to develop powerful instructional units which emphasize integrated thematic instruction, rigorous curriculum and embedded assessment standards
• a personal commitment to providing quality instruction to all students through a ACHILDREN FIRST @ perspective
• knowledge and support of multiage/multigrade theory
• organizational skills to establish and operate a school
• leadership skills to motivate and energize staff
• supervisory skills to assure excellence and quality education are ongoing and ever present

REASONING ABILITY:

This position requires locomotion, communication ability to perceive the environment.

Each Summer Academy Principal will be paid $4,000.
