
DESCRIPTION
The Administrator of Special Education Programs, under the direct supervision of the Director of Pupil Personnel Services and site principal, is responsible for supervision and leadership of assigned Special Education programs. The position will also serve the site principal in leadership roles that may encompass school plant operations, directing the instructional program, and participating in staff, student and parent activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide assistance to the Director of Pupil Personnel Services in such areas as:
Develops, implements and evaluates annual goals and objectives for special education, psychological services and health services programs.
Represent the district at IEP meetings.
Supervise and direct the district's special education day classes and teachers.
Supervise and direct the district's resource program and teachers.
Supervise and direct the district's Designated Instructional Services teachers and program.
Supervise and direct the district's pre-school program.
Monitors district compliance in special education areas by completing proper forms and following appropriate procedures and timelines.
Work with principals on programs offered at each school to insure the least restrictive environment.
Coordinates the placement and transfer of students from one type of special education program to another.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services.
To provide assistance to the principal in such areas as:
Administering school programs including instruction, special committees/ activities, and building and grounds, at the site to which assigned
Interviewing, supervising and evaluating certificated and classified personnel
Monitoring the instructional program and reviewing student report cards
Planning and implementing staff development programs
Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior
Developing duty rosters and other school-wide schedules
Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned
