PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES IN E.U.S.D.
· Resource Specialist Program (RSP): Resource services support students with a disability that impacts in academic and social areas who are having mild difficulty specific to these areas.
· Learning Center Programs (LCP): LCP services support students with a disability that impacts most areas of learning and who are having moderate difficulty in most areas.
· Designated Instructional Services (DIS): Are those supplemental services necessary for a child to benefit from his/her special educational program. These services include Speech and Language Therapy; Occupational and Physical Therapy. Adapted Physical Education and Counseling.
· Early Intervention Program (EIP): Encinitas Union School District operates a very successful Early Intervention Program for students with disabilities who are significantly challenged. These students’ ages 3 and 4 enjoy a rich program that enables them to develop areas of: Fine and Gross Motor, Learning Independence, Language and Social Skills. The 2 classes are housed in the “Preschool” cottages located adjacent to a District elementary school. The District hosts a terrific Head Start program in the same location that affords increased opportunities to learn and practice skill areas with non disabled peers. Both of these classes are Regional Classes (see description below).
· Regional Classes: The District hosts and administers 4 “Regional" classes funded through North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE). These classes are for students with disabilities that result in significant challenges. These classes serve students who reside in one of the 14 Districts served by the consortium.
