Joseph Rindone Regional Center

The District’s multipurpose Technology Center, located at the District Office, continues to provide key staff development support to staff and students through state-of-the-art training. The research is very clear: Technology placed in classrooms without training support provided to the teachers, goes unused by students and teachers. Therefore, teacher and staff training is a high priority. Consequently, up to 30% of available funding is used to support staff development in the effective use of technology as a tool for learning and instruction. This training includes skill development with Windows 95, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HyperStudio, Internet research and resources, and communication.

An important component of our Technology Center features videoconferencing capability. Last winter, Encinitas Union School District became the first of five county satellite videoconferencing centers. As part of the San Diego County Office of Education, the Joe Rindone Satellite Technology Center, located at the District Office, supports distance learning, communication, and professional development. Its videoconferencing capabilities for students, teachers, staff, and administrators allow "real-time" interaction and learning on a global level. The videoconferencing technology, donated by Sony Electronics, supports workshops, seminars, electronic fieldtrips, teacher/staff training and professional development focused on improving student learning, remote guest speakers and experts, multimedia presentations, and Internet learning and resources.
