Human Resources Department

Dr. Dan Grider, Assistant SuperintendentHuman Resources provides a variety of important functions for the Encinitas Union School District.  We recognize that in order to realize our vision of excellence for the children of Encinitas, we need to attract and retain the very best teachers, administrators and support staff.  In conjunction with the Educational Services Department, Human Resources is charged with employee development and training programs for all employees within the organization. In addition, this department handles employee benefits, classification analysis and review, and employee recognitions.

Personnel Services seeks viable candidates, both credentialed and classified, for the organization, maintains employee records, and works toward competitive and comprehensive salary and benefits plans for all employee groups.  Personnel Services negotiates employee contracts with two employee associations - the Teachers of Encinitas (TOE / CTA) and the Classified of Encinitas (COE / CSEA).

The Encinitas Union District currently employs approximately 380 certificated employees in management, support services, and teaching positions throughout the district, as well as 250 classified employees to support our students’ instructional program. Support personnel work at our school sites as instructional assistants, library media and computer assistants, secretaries, community liaisons, custodians, and supervision aides as well as in district office departments.

In accordance with the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), all of our classroom teachers are fully credentialed by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and are “highly qualified” as defined by this federal legislation and only highly qualified paraprofessionals are hired as support personnel to assist our teachers.

Employment
We are currently accepting applications from Multiple Subject (elementary),  and Special Education candidates for regular teaching positions. Applicants must hold or be eligible for a California teaching credential. Passage of the California Basic Skills Test (CBEST) is a state requirement.

Classified Employment
Classified positions may have testing requirements. Please review the job descriptions to help you determine whether you meet the job requirements. If applying for an instructional assistant position, a proficiency exam is required and is administered at the District Office, by appointment.

Administrative Employment (Certificated and Classified)
Applications are accepted for administrative positions only as positions are available. See Employment for currently available positions.

Substitute Teaching (North County Coastal Substitute Consortium)

Applications for substitute teachers are currently being accepted. Priority hiring will be given to
credentialed applicants. The current rate of pay for substitute teachers is $90/day. Our tier one long-term rate of pay (after 15 days in same assignment) is $100/day. Our tier two long-term rate of pay (after 45 days in same assignment) is $110/day. As an added incentive for substitutes to commit to the North County Coastal Substitute Consortium the daily base rate of pay after a substitute has worked in any of the consortium school districts (Encinitas, Del Mar, Solana Beach, Cardiff, Rancho Santa Fe) for 45 days, the substitute’s base rate will increase from $90/day to $100/day. In other words, regardless of whether the substitute has been in a long term assignment or not, if the substitute works in the consortium for at least 45 days, that particular substitute’s base rate of pay will be adjusted to $100/day for any subsequent assignments for the balance of that particular school year. The adjusted base rate of pay will return to the regular base rate for the following school year until the substitute, once again, attains the 45 days in the consortium.
