October, 2007 - Mission Estancia School becomes fourth school in the Encinitas Union School Distict to receive the nation's highest honor of National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.

National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence

Three EUSD schools have captured the National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Award, presented by the United States Department of Education. The award is based upon the following criteria.

--strong leadership
-- a clear vision and sense of mission that is shared by all connected with the school
-- high quality teaching
-- challenging and up-to-date curriculum, policies and practices that ensure a safe environment conducive to learning
-- a solid commitment to parental involvement
-- evidence that the school helps all students achieve high standards

The national award selection process involves an extensive written nomination, selection by a state blue ribbon committee and qualification for a site visit from a national blue ribbon panel of educators.
The blue ribbon title is presented to elementary and secondary schools across the nation on a rotating, bi-annual basis. For more information, visit the U.S. Department of Education's No Child Left Behind website.

The California Distinguished School Recognition Program recognizes the priorities of the State Board of Education and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. The program identifies and honors the state's most exemplary and inspiring public schools with the California Distinguished School Award. The Golden Bell Awards program recognizes exemplary programs in 15 major categories which focus on curriculum and instruction. Title I Achieving School Award

Paul Ecke Central School received theTitle I Achieving School Award in April, 2004. The award honors California’s highest achieving Title I schools. To qualify and be selected for the award, a school must exceed Adequate Yearly Progress for two or more consecutive years or significantly close the achievement gap among numerically significant subgroups, double the Academic Performance Index growth target for two consecutive years and meet a designated median API score in both English-language arts and mathematics.

Each year, the Encinitas Union School District recognizes and honors several groups of individuals who are committed to excellence and the education of all children in EUSD. These individuals invest huindreds oh hour each year to ensure the children in our schools receive the very best opportunties to grow and learn.
