 Academic Performance Descriptions

This report shows how much a school is improving from year to year based on its API.  A school’s API is a number that ranges from 200 to 1000 and is calculated from the results for each school’s students on statewide tests.  The state has set 800 as the API target for all schools to meet.  Click here for API history.

This report shows how well schools are meeting common standards of academic performance, as measured by whether the school or school district makes AYP. Required AYP targets increase yearly until 2013 - 2014 when all schools must have 100 percent of their students performing at or above the proficient level on statewide tests.

The purpose of the CELDT is to identify new students who are English learners in kindergarten through grade six, to determine their level of English proficiency and to annually assess their progress in learning English.

Administered to 5th grade students, this test measures students' fitness levels in six areas measured by the FITNESSGRAM® test:  Aerobic Capacity, Body Composition, Abdominal Strength & Endurance, Trunk Extensor Strength & Flexibility, Upper Body Strength & Endurance, Flexibility.  Results are used to determine if students' performance levels fall within the Healthy Fitness Zone.

The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. Spanish version immediately follows English version.

This report shows how well 2nd - 6th students performed on the California Standards Tests (CST).  The CSTs were developed specifically to assess 2nd - 6th students' knowledge of the California content standards in English/Language Arts, Mathematics and Science (5th).  Test results are reported in five performance levels:  Advanced, Proficient, Basic, Below Basic and Far Below Basic.  Scores are also used to determine how well a school is addressing targets for API and AYP.
