FLORA VISTA WINS 2004 GOLDEN BELL AWARD
( ENCINITAS , CALIFORNIA ) Flora Vista Elementary School, one of nine kindergarten – sixth grade elementary schools in the Encinitas Union School District, will be honored at the 25th Annual Golden Bell Awards program of the California School Boards Association (CSBA).
The award was won in the Special Education category for the Pre-school Learning Center under the direction of Dr. Beverly Barrett, Lorraine Thompson and Dr.Tim Reeve.
The highly respected Golden Bell awards will be presented at a special ceremony during CSBA’s Awards Luncheon at the San Francisco Marriot Hotel onSaturday, December 4, 2004 from to 1:15 P.M. The event is held in conjunction with the California School Boards Association’s Annual Education Conference.
The Pre-school Learning Center offers pre-school special needs students opportunities to integrate with typically developing children while receiving specially designed instruction. An on-site Head Start pre-school also works in collaboration with the Pre-school Learning Center to provide mainstreaming opportunities and age appropriate peers.
The CSBA Golden Bell Awards program promotes excellence in education by recognizing outstanding programs in school districts and county offices of education throughout California. The Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of the education programs necessary to address students’ changing needs. The goal of this awards program is to contribute to the development and evaluation of curriculum, instruction, and support services.
CSBA is a nonprofit association representing more than 1,000 K – 12 school districts and county offices of education throughout California.
