Kindergarten Registration
FAQ - Kindergarten
Senate Bill (SB) 1381, the Kindergarten Readiness Act, was signed into
law by Governor Schwarzenegger on September 30, 2010. This law changes
the age a student must be to enroll in kindergarten and is being
implemented incrementally by school year as follows:
-
2011-2012: Must be five years old on or before December 2, 2011
-
2012-2013: Must be five years old on or before November 1, 2012
-
2013-2014: Must be five years old on or before October 1, 2013
-
2014-2015: Must be five years old on or before September 1, 2014
When registering students, parents will be asked to complete a
registration packet and provide proof of residence, proof of student
immunization and (when enrolling for Kindergarten or Grade 1) proof of
the student's age. For a complete list of required documentation for
Kindergarten registration, see Incoming Kindergarten.
In addition, the EUSD complies with state-mandated health requirements
for school entry. For a complete list of required health documentation
for registration, see Incoming Kindergarten notice. To be eligible for enrollment students must be 5 on or before the eligible date listed above and must currently be residing in the Encinitas Union School District. Families in the process of moving to the school
district may register their students once their residency in the EUSD
is established.
